What to do first in Hogwarts Legacy

There are so many things to do and places to explore in Hogwarts Legacy, but are there things you should do first? The game opens slowly and for some reason it just has a lot to do. Hogwarts Legacy has a large open world. Hogwarts itself is a huge place with a lot to do. This guide will tell you all the details on what to do first.

What to do first in Hogwarts Legacy

There are so many things to do in Hogwarts Legacy that it would be overwhelming if it could all be done at once. There are things to explore, there is a lot to learn at Hogwarts and beyond, there are things to be unlocked, etc. So with so many things to do, let’s see what you should be doing first..

Duel in the duel club “Crossed Wands”

One of the most fun activities that also doubles as a tutorial is dueling. You will be able to duel for the first time in the Defense Against the Dark Arts class with Sebastian Sallow. After that, Sebastian will invite you to a duel at the Cross Wands Dueling Club. You can start this by meeting Lucan Brattleby at the base of the clock tower.

It will also teach you some basic combat in the early game and help you get used to it. It can also be very difficult on higher difficulty. It also provides a training dummy where you can learn different spell combinations to be most effective in duels.

Explore Hogsmeade

Known as the only city where magic is openly practiced, Hogsmeade is a noisy and tumultuous place. There are many shops and other structures to visit. Some shops and their owners will be introduced during the main quest. But you should still learn more about this city as it has so much more to offer.

There are many fun little shops and houses that you can go to and interact with items or even eat something. One such interesting store is Zonko’s Joke Shop, which has a lot to offer, so be sure to check it out.

Use Revelio and collect Field Guide pages.

Revelio is one of the first spells you learn during the Hogwarts Legacy prologue. If there is something important, wherever you are, it is to use Revelio. You can miss out on a lot of hidden chests and other valuables if you don’t use Revelio often.

One of the main uses of Revelio is to display and collect Field Guide pages. If you ever find anything interesting like a statue, a unique painting, or unique structures like fountains and the like, use Revelio and you can open the field guide page.

Complete Merlin’s Trials

After the first few hours of the game, you will be introduced to the Merlin Trails. These are small puzzles or tasks that are often easy to understand and solve, and don’t take too long. Be sure to complete these challenges whenever you stumble across them on your travels. These Merlin Challenges are essential in Hogwarts Legacy as they will increase your gear capacity. If you don’t want to keep destroying or selling your items, you need to keep going through Trials of Merlin for as long as you can.

Unlock flying broom

You may have seen a few students flying on flying broomsticks around Hogwarts. Using a flying broom is one of the most fun things to do in Hogwarts Legacy. But you will need to advance a bit to unlock them. They are unlocked after attending a flight class where you are taught how to fly them.

As long as you don’t have the flying brooms unlocked yet, make sure you’re hoarding gold so you can immediately buy one of them once it’s unlocked. It can be purchased from Spintwitches Sporting Needs for 600 gold once you unlock it. The presence of a flying broom greatly simplifies the study. So, make sure you try to unlock it first before heading out to explore places that are far away.

That’s all you have to do in the first place in Hogwarts Legacy. For more guides like this, check out our other articles, like Should You Tell Natty the Truth? and how to get a breeding pen in Hogwarts Legacy.
