Minecraft has a variety of hostile mobs such as ghouls. For players who are new to the game, hostile mobs will attack you as soon as you enter their radius. Ghosts are on the weaker side compared to others. However, they can easily kill you with their ranged attacks. To help you deal with them, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about Gasts.
What are Gasts in Minecraft (Behavior)
Ghosts are one of the biggest hostile mobs in Minecraft, second only to the Ender Dragon. They resemble floating marshmallows and you can find them in the Nether. They swim with their eyes closed and make weeping sounds.
If they notice you, they will shoot a fireball at you every 3 seconds. These fireballs have splash damage and also hit nearby blocks and mobs. Fireball damage depends on your distance and the difficulty you’re playing on:
- Easy: 9 hearts
- Normal: 17 hearts
- Hard: 25 hearts
If you are not careful and take a few hits, you are doomed to an early death. However, if you kill them, they will drop valuable loot.
How to deal with Gasts
As we already mentioned, Gasts are weaker depending on their health bar. They only have 5 hearts, which means 10 health points. However, the hardest part is hitting them. Since they only hover in the air and use ranged attacks, they are difficult to hit. Here are some tips on how to defeat Gast in Minecraft:
- Use ranged weapons like bow and arrows.
- Any solid block can protect you from fireballs, so make sure you have enough before you engage.
- Make sure you have a good set of armor.
- If you don’t have a bow, use your sword to hit Gast with his own fireball. It may take some effort and practice, but you can do it in one hit with this move.
Ghasts drop out in Minecraft
Once you kill Gast, you will receive the following loot:
- Ghost Tear: Used to craft regeneration potions and end crystals.
- Gunpowder: used to make rocket, TNT, fire charge, etc.
- 5 experience points
