Uruguayan director Fede Alvarez will write and direct the original film under license from Alien.
Quite apart from previous films and Noah Hawley’s upcoming FX TV series, Fede Alvarez will spearhead a new Alien movie for Hulu as part of 20th Century Studios’ deal to supply ten movies a year to the Disney-owned OTT service. Ridley Scott is producing the film through Scott Free Productions.
Alien takes place before Ellen Ripley. This is the first story set on Earth in the Alien franchise,” Jon Landgraf said during the FX Winter Tour. “This is how it happens on our planet. By the end of the century we are in, that is, by the age of 70.” While Alien has already received five scripts and only one for Fargo, Noah Hawley will direct the final series first, as it’s set to go into production this winter, given that it’s set in the Midwest.
