Another day, another series of updates regarding the status of Odyssey Team’s upcoming Cheyote rootless jailbreak for iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1 devices.
In the latest series of updates, Odyssey lead developer Team CoolStar took to the official Sileo/Taurine/Odyssey Discord channel to share tidbits of the jailbreak’s working features, in addition to an updated to-do list.
Based on some teasers, it seems that CoolStar has successfully launched and launched the Cheyote Recovery interface, which includes features such as Safe Mode, Boot Repair, Telnet/SSH, and Normal Boot. In a later screenshot, CoolStar confirmed that Safe Mode does indeed work as expected in iOS 15.
The updated to-do list notes that the following tasks related to the development of this jailbreak have already been completed:
- Exit the sandbox
- Getting root
- Getting read / write access to the file system (except for rootFS)
- AMFI/code design violation
- Running shell commands (some bugs remain)
- Starting OpenSSH
- How to make legacy Odyssey run injection
- Adding USB Ethernet Debugging Support
- Triggering a userspace reload
- Running Cheyote Recovery
- Proper start of system services after userspace reload (some bugs remain)
- Assigning a reward for installing an iOS 15 jailbreak tweak for testing
- Running tweak in SpringBoard
The following items on the to-do list still need to be completed:
- Hook attachment
- Fixed userspace reload bug so manual intervention is not required.
- Make sure the injection works inside App Store apps.
The ongoing progress hasn’t slowed down one bit, with persistent teasers reminding us that the Cheyote iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1 jailbreak will be released very soon – although no specific ETA has been provided for obvious reasons.
