In case you haven’t been following along, the Odyssey Team’s iOS & iPadOS 14-centric Taurine jailbreak tool received an update this past week that added iOS & iPadOS 14.4-14.8.1 support.
While the support for newer firmware received tons of praise from the community, it’s also worth noting that some users have pointed out how Taurine devices running iOS 14.5-14.8.1 have issues with CarPlay connections.
Project lead developer CoolStar took to the official Discord server early Saturday morning to address this, effectively noting that a Taurine update to fix CarPlay issues was unlikely to surface:
As it would seem, there are several reasons for this, including the fact that CoolStar doesn’t have a CarPlay-enabled car to test with, doesn’t have a test device on iOS 14 (apart from iPads, which don’t support CarPlay), and doesn’t have enough beta testers to confirm a fix.
CoolStar also said that Taurine has likely reached the limit of its potential as a jailbreak, as it is already taking advantage of reused code from the never-released Cheyote jailbreak for iOS & iPadOS 15.
It’s worth noting, however, that CoolStar did say it’s possible Taurine could receive further kfd exploit improvements, as well as a fix for the ‘sudo’ issue, but outside of that, Taurine appears unlikely to receive any other updates.
If you’re not already enjoying a jailbreak on any of your iOS or iPadOS 14 devices, then the Taurine jailbreak can be acquired from the URL below:
