Vision Pro is one of the most ambitious projects of Apple and there is no doubt that the company has quite high expectations and plans for its mixed-reality headset. Apple is known for maintaining a close ecosystem of its products. Along similar lines, a new rumor suggests that a future iPhone Ultra model will be able to capture spatial photos and videos for Vision Pro.
The rumour comes from the courtesy of a Weibo account which has a proven past track record of sharing credible information. As reported by MacRumors, Apple will add an iPhone Ultra model to its lineup after the release of Vision Pro, which is expected to be released next year.
iPhone Ultra will capture spatial photos & videos
This iPhone Ultra model will “lead the market to rethink what kind of photos and videos a mobile phone should take” . While the leakster has not mentioned spatial photos and videos, it is quite evident from his statement that he is talking about spatial photos and videos that can be captured using iPhone Ultra.
This is because spatial photos and videos are one of the most anticipated features of Vision Pro. As showcased by Apple at the World Wide Developer Conference, the upcoming Vision Pro headset is equipped with an outward facing camera, which will allow users to capture spatial photos and videos.
In its press release about Vision Pro, Apple writes the following about the camera on Vision Pro which will help the device capture immersive 3D content:
“Featuring Apple’s first three-dimensional camera, Apple Vision Pro lets users capture, relive, and immerse themselves in favorite memories with Spatial Audio. Every spatial photo and video transports users back to a moment in time, like a celebration with friends or a special family gathering. Users can access their entire photo library on iCloud, and view their photos and videos at a life-size scale with brilliant color and spectacular detail.”
3D camera in future iPhone Ultra?
Now connecting the immersive experience that Apple talks about to the latest rumour, it seems very likely that a future iPhone Ultra model could be equipped with the same three-dimensional camera as found in the Vision Pro headset.
As far as the iPhone Ultra is concerned, this is not the first time when we have seen it in the rumors. Leaks on the Chinese social media website Weibo often mention that Apple will replace the current high-end iPhone Pro Max with an iPhone Ultra model in the future. As Vision Pro is expected to launch in 2024, we could see an iPhone 16 Ultra next year.
