Crunchyroll lowers monthly subscription price

Crunchyroll is lowering the cost of the monthly subscription in many countries, but not in France.

Crunchyroll has decided to change subscription prices for users in nearly 100 countries and territories around the world. And it’s not as bad as you might think. Instead of increasing the cost of their monthly subscriptions, Crunchyroll decided to lower them in order to offer users “even more value.”This could help the anime streaming service gain even more subscribers.

In the UK, the Mega Fan offer, which allows you to watch content offline and on up to four devices at the same time, is now £6, up from £8 previously. Fan offer reduced from £6.50 to £5. Users residing in India get an even bigger discount: a Mega Fan subscription costs between $10 and $1.25. In Brazil, the drop was 37.5%, in the United Arab Emirates – 50%, still in the monthly offer.

Crunchyroll’s official announcement provides the full list of countries and territories that are affected by this price cut. This applies to Europe, the Caribbean, South America, Africa and the Middle East. Some countries, for example, are completely absent. This is the case of the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and France.

Sony acquired Crunchyroll from AT&T in 2021 and integrated Funimation’s catalog there a few months ago. Since Crunchyroll is a popular streaming service for anime fans, it wouldn’t be surprising if Sony raised prices. Instead, the Japanese giant is making its offering even more attractive compared to Netflix and other Hulus, which also have an anime catalog but have increased their prices in recent years.
