A new story will be introduced in Cyberpunk 2077’s first expansion.
Piotr Nelyubovich, Vice President and CFO of CD Projekt RED, announces that Cyberpunk 2077’s first expansion will feature a never-before-seen storyline and is officially scheduled for release next year: City – We’re working on additional DLCs as well as a major expansion. We believe in the long-term potential of our latest update; thus, one of our priorities for 2021 was to improve the gameplay of Cyberpunk 2077. Today, we are pleased with the game and are relieved to see how players reacted to the next-gen version, which was released last February. In total, we have sold over 18 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077.”
For the record, Cyberpunk 2077’s post-launch plans have been significantly altered following the chaotic launch of the futuristic open-world FPS-RPG. While updates are regular, DLCs take longer to arrive, but many are still in development, knowing that Cyberpunk 2077’s first expansion requires the help of a quarter of the development team (160 people). By comparison, just over a third of the company was working on the next iteration of Cyberpunk 2077.
Severe Way of the Cross Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 was billed as one of the biggest games of the last generation of consoles, but things got even worse after release. After three delays, CD Projekt RED’s FPS-RPG was released on PC and consoles with multiple technical issues that resulted in a refund and removal of the game from the PlayStation Store. After six months of fixes to improve the game, it returned to Sony’s online marketplace in June 2021, with CD Projekt RED claiming that Cyberpunk 2077’s performance had reached a “good enough”level. Even today, the game is far from over.
