Based on the video game Cyberpunk 2077, itself an adaptation of the tabletop RPG Cyberpunk 2020, Cyberpunk Edgerunners tells the story of a street urchin trying to survive in Night City in ten episodes. the future is obsessed with technology and body modification. He has so much to lose, and stays alive by becoming an edge runner – a criminal mercenary, also known as cyberpunk.

CD Projekt RED is producing Cyberpunk Edgerunners with Rafal Xhaky (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher: Ronin) serving as showrunner and executive producer, along with Satoru Homma, Bartosz Stybor and Saya Elder. Hiroyuki Imaishi of Studio Trigger (Gurren Lagann, Kill the Killer, Promare) directs with creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill the Killer), character designer and animation director Yo Yoshinari (Girl Witch Academy, BNA: Brand New animal). The script was entrusted to Yoshiki Usa (SSSS.Gridman, Promare) and Masahiko Otsuka (Star Wars: Visions), and the soundtrack was composed by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill).
