The Redemption Road update is gearing up for the end of Darkest Dungeon 2 Early Access.
Red Hook Studios’ hardcore rogue-like RPG Darkest Dungeon 2 is getting a final update for its Early Access ahead of its full release on PC (Epic Games Store/Steam) on May 8th. Redemption Road “re-engineers and redesigns the game’s map navigation systems to add strategic depth and ease of control.”
Redemption Road, between the traffic system and the road structure for Darkest Dungeon 2
Stagecoach in Darkest Dungeon 2 now comes with armor and wheel tokens that need to be replenished manually at the tavern or found in certain encounters. Maintaining both levels gives players a nice advantage while attrition exposes them to potential ambushes. There are also new types of roads that can deplete armor and wheel tokens, and a random event that requires you to urgently repair a wagon or be ambushed on the side of the road, where each turn one of the heroes must focus on repairs. carriage, and not engage in battle. This means players are forced to face raiders at a significant disadvantage.
Stagecoach handling and crossroads have also been slightly improved. Now, if players decide their route quickly, they will be able to turn without slowing down. On the other hand, if they are late, the stagecoach stops at the crossroads, giving you time to choose your path more carefully. The update contains many other improvements, including a number of balance changes. The disgust system has also received a significant overhaul. This stat now increases as players progress through Tears of Forgetfulness or visit locations affected by the Dark World, but decreases during combat. If disgust reaches its maximum, players will have to face the Confession boss, the effects of which depend on your choice of confession.
Darkest Dungeon 2 and its new pet system
A total of 10 animals can be unlocked in Darkest Dungeon 2, each of which affects the expedition in its own way. These sweet and strange companions bring a ray of hope to a dark world. Many other gameplay changes, balance tweaks, and quality of life improvements were made as part of this update. These include community-requested features such as valley reconfiguration, hate rework, and weakening the candle of hope, especially for new players.
Six of them are used as part of the stagecoach design – for example, Unnatural Owl gives +5% debuff chance for each handyman outfit installed on the stagecoach. These attributes are added to items and apply to, for example, an explosives magazine, blueprint vials, analysis equipment, a mechanic’s workbench, and a smuggler’s set. The other four pets provide powerful combat effects.
