PS5 Pro rumors have been circulating the internet for the past few weeks, and it looks like the new wave of rumors is coming from a rather unexpected source. TCL, the consumer technology maker, said at a recent conference that the PS5 Pro, as well as the Xbox Series X Pro, could be scheduled for release in 2023-2024.
Neither Sony nor Microsoft have confirmed the existence of any hardware upgrade plans, but TCL claims that these new consoles will have features such as the ability to output 8K resolution at up to 120Hz. To reiterate, no console maker has confirmed that new console development is underway, but typically hardware updates happen around the time TCL says at the conference.

The PlayStation 4 Pro as well as the Slim came out about 3 years (2016) after the original PlayStation 4 was released (2013). That’s why a 2023-2024 schedule for a more powerful variant of next-gen consoles doesn’t seem entirely out of the ordinary.
Sony is currently in the process of rolling out the new PlayStation Plus, which was recently launched in select Asian markets including Hong Kong, Indonesia and Singapore. There was a bit of a glitch at the launch of the service as PlayStation claims a technical error resulted in the upgrades being priced incorrectly.
TCL says the new consoles will feature the RX7700XT GPU, which will support 2160p at 60-120Hz as well as UHD-8K at 60-120Hz. These are pretty bold claims, but since consoles are currently capable of delivering similar performance at 4K resolution, the Pro version of said consoles is likely more than capable of delivering the claimed performance figures.
It will be interesting to see when Sony or Microsoft will announce a hardware update for the PS5 and Xbox Series X, but there has been no official announcement as of now.
