Phineas and Ferb will get the right to respawn. Something to (re)discover this iconic Disney Channel series from the 2000s.
Today, it is not uncommon to see revivals of old, even very old films or series. So the question is not so much how much, but when this or that work from your childhood will be dusted off for a new life on some streaming service. Provided that production is completed, of course. The next series to qualify is none other than Disney Channel’s Phineas and Ferb.
Phineas and Ferb will get the right to respawn
During the Television Critics Association Winter Presentation a few days ago, Disney released a 40-episode list for the sequel spanning two seasons. Original series co-creator Dan Povenmire is currently helming this new series, and talks are reportedly underway to enlist the services of another co-creator, Jeff “Swamp”Marsh. Voice actors Vince Martella (Phineas) and Dee Bradley Baker (Perry the Platypus) have confirmed their involvement in the revival on social media.
Phineas and Ferb first aired in 2007. The series tells about the adventures of two half-brothers, brilliant inventors. Over 104 days of summer vacation, Phineas and Ferb built unusual and outlandish contraptions and events that always disappear right before their parents return home. To the great despair of Candace, their sisters. While all this is going on, their pet platypus Perry is saving the world as a secret agent… who is also a platypus.
What to (re)discover this iconic Disney Channel series from the 2000s
The series was a big hit and ran until 2015, with two films (a potential third in production), a live tour, and an action movie project even seeing the light of day. If you ask someone to name you a Disney channel or a Disney XD show from your childhood, chances are Phineas and Ferb will be one of the first names on the list.
After the series ended, Dan Povenmire and Geoff Marsh moved on to a sequel series, Milo Murphy’s Law, which ran for two seasons and carried over some characters from the main series. The 2022 series Hamster & Gretel (created only by Dan Povenmire, received a second season at the same time the revival was announced) takes place in the same universe, but a crossover between Hamster and either of the other two series has yet to take place.
