Disney+ and Hulu to rise in price in 2022

Apple TV+ debuted at $4.99 a month, and despite that, the company hasn’t changed the price of the video streaming service. But that doesn’t mean that prices unfortunately stay the same for major competitors in the wild. And, of course, another price increase is on the way for a couple of popular options.

Disney+ and Hulu prices are on the rise, The Verge reports . First, Disney+, which will go up from $7.99/month to $10.99/month. It’s quite a hike, to say the least. This will take effect from December 8, 2022 in the US.

The main reason Disney+ is seeing such big growth is because the streaming service is undergoing a bit of a restructuring as it will add an ad-supported tier in the near future. When this option launches, it will cost $7.99 per month, which means Disney has had to change a few things.

However, Disney does not stop there. The company will also raise prices for Hulu. Once that happens, the ad-free tier will go up to $14.99/month, which will shift the price from $12.99/month. At the ad-supported tier, the price rises slightly less, from $6.99/month to $7.99/month. Hulu price changes are effective October 10, 2022.

These price changes will also affect the option set. Those people who have the standard Disney+ plan with advertising options for Hulu and ESPN+ will see their package grow to $14.99/month from $13.99/month. Disney will also be launching a brand new package that includes ads from Disney+ and Hulu for $9.99 per month. Meanwhile, if you opt for the ad-free tier for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, you’ll have to shell out over $19.99 per month.

Not a small price increase at all, but as long as people still find value in what they pay for, that’s all that really matters.
