Disney re-releases cult game Gargoyles from the Mega Drive

The history of video games is rich enough for young and old alike to discover many more nuggets. Publishers are well aware of this and do not hesitate to update some of the cult publications. Some specialize in this mission, others do so from time to time, depending on the occasion. Today we learn that Disney is working on a remastering of the classic Mega Drive (Sega Genesis) game – Gargoyles.

More recently, Disney fans of the mid-90s got a pretty pleasant surprise. During their latest video game presentation, the company announced that it was working on a remastering of Gargoyles. Along with Aladdin and The Lion King, this 1995 Mega Drive game is one of the most iconic in the Disney video game catalog.

Operation nostalgia for 1990s gamers

If you are not familiar with this video game, know that it is based on the animated series of the same name. Gargoyles first aired between 1994 and 1997. Although success was very mixed at the time, the series gained a cult following with a compelling story and many look-alikes, notably featuring the voices of Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The game doesn’t have a release date yet.

Best known for their work on Dead Island Retro Revenge, Empty Clip Studios is remastering for modern consoles and PC. The 1995 game was one of the most beautiful in the Mega Drive catalog. It also offered players a soundtrack composed by Michael Giacchino, who later worked on iconic titles such as The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Lost and Rogue One, among many other film and small screen material.

The much-anticipated Gargoyles remaster doesn’t have a release date yet. Patience.
