Disney+ is working on a Daredevil TV series. With Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio?
Daredevil fans who were disappointed when Netflix canceled the series after three seasons can now switch to another project. According to Variety, Disney+ has apparently decided to launch its own series about blind lawyer-turned-superhero Matt Murdock. The streaming service has signed Matt Korman and Chris Ord to write and executive produce the series. The two were the lead showrunners on the NBC military drama The Brave, and we also owe them the series Covert Affairs.
Disney+ is working on a Daredevil TV series.
Daredevil is just the latest of a slew of MCU franchises relaunched on Disney+, starting with WandaVision last year. Since then, the service has launched six other Marvel series, including Hawkeye, Moon Knight and Loki, with many more to follow this year. At the same time, Netflix series based on Marvel characters left the platform’s catalog for good a few months ago.
With Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio?
The Disney+ Daredevil series is just getting started. Variety also clarifies that Marvel has yet to officially announce anything. Charlie Cox, who played the titular character in the Netflix series, reprized his role in Spider-Man: No Home, released this year, while Vincent D’Onofrio reprises his role as the Kingpin in Hawkeye. The two actors seemed optimistic about the takeover of the Disney+ series, but no one knows today if they will return for this new series.
In an interview with Marvel News Desk, Vincent D’Onofrio spoke about the sudden cancellation of the Netflix series that shocked many fans. The actor said the 2018 cancellation was likely because Marvel set the stage for Disney’s streaming service. “You know, the moment the #SaveDaredevil group got together, we found out why it happened, and we realized what Marvel was doing then because Disney+ came along.”
