Speaking about her role in Doctor Who, Millie Gibson (Love, Lies and Records, Butterfly, Coronation Street) said:
Even if I still can’t believe it, I’m honored to have been chosen as the Doctor’s companion. This is the most beautiful role, a dream come true, and I will do my best to honor the memory of the comrades who traveled before me. And what better way to do it than to be next to the fabulous Nkuti Gatwa, I can’t wait to get started.
Millie Gibson, BBC star for Doctor Who
Showrunner Russell T Davis explains:
I am honored to have found the next generation of talent and Millie is already shining like a star. She is bright, dynamic, smart and a wonderful actress. As a Coronation Street fan, I’ve seen Millie survive chases, shootouts, and sieges, but that’s nothing compared to what’s in store for Ruby Sunday.
Nkuti Gatwa also supports Millie Gibson:
Millie is just the perfect companion. She is full of talent, strength, she has a cheeky twinkle in her eyes and she is razor sharp. As soon as she entered the room, she captured all of our attention with her brilliance, and then sealed that attention with the sheer twist of her talent. This adventure is going to be so wild and fun that I can’t wait to take a trip across the universe with Millie!
