Jason Momoa will be in talks to star in the Minecraft movie, which we ultimately know very little about.
A live action movie project licensed by Mojang Minecraft is taking on a serious shape. The actor we no longer feature , Jason Momoa, would even be mooted as one of the stars of this adaptation, if The Hollywood Reporter is to be believed, often very well-informed about this kind of news.

The contract hasn’t been signed yet, so it’s still too early to be sure of anything, but the potential addition of an actor of Jason Momoa’s caliber would be a very hopeful sign of life for a film that has been shelved at Warner Bros’. The studio originally planned to release the film in March 2022, but the entire project had to be put on hold due to numerous production delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, according to THR. But concerns about this adaptation arose much earlier; its first director, as well as the writers, left the ship in 2014, following various creatives with Mojang.
A film about which, after all, we know very little.
It is Jared Hess, to whom we owe the series “Napoleon Dynamite”, who is currently considered the director, and in the technical staff appear the producers of “Dune”Mary Parent and Roy Lee. At the moment, no one knows what role Jason Momoa will play in the film, because it is absolutely unknown what elements of this iconic 2011 game will appear in the film. We don’t even know if there will be a character like Minecraft Steve.
The script of this film, meanwhile, is very simple. As reported by Mojang Studios in 2019, “A vicious Ender Dragon wreaks havoc, prompting a young girl and her unlikely band of adventurers to set out to save the Overworld.”
That being said, fans can expect movement, so to speak, around this movie in the near future. Indeed, The Ankler reports that the rights to use Minecraft for Warner Bros. expires in January 2023, so production on the film must begin before that date.
