The founders of Avalanche Studios announce the creation of Elemental Games with input from many video game industry veterans.
Stockholm, Sweden-based indie Elemental Games was launched over the summer by a team of ten developers, including founding partners of Avalanche Studios Linus Blomberg and Viktor Blomberg, as well as Oskar Blomberg, Christopher “Loffan”Labedsky, Robert Krupa, Martin “Kritan”Bergqvist, Christian Nielsendael, Emil “Hummus”Persson, Andreas Tillema and Tobias Ekholm. All of them have worked at Avalanche Studios at one time or another, but some have also worked at EA DICE, Ubisoft and Epic Games more recently.
“We will continue to develop systemic gameplay and the open world genre using all the knowledge we have gained from Just Cause, Mad Max, Rage 2 and other Avalanche Studios games,” Linus Blomberg said of the Elemental mandate. “In this environment, it is difficult to do research and be innovative, and to promote the environment in areas such as gender stereotyping and the romanticization of violence. ”
Independence is a priority for Elemental Games
Elemental Games considered itself a private company as its developers seemed to become frustrated trying to work for public companies where investors are focused on short-term financial results. In order to create high-quality open world games while maintaining creative and financial independence, a small development team is actively working to create their own graphics engine.
