The whole purpose of the Gunsmith Part 2 quest is to modify the AKS-74U to meet the requirements of the Mechanic. It is very similar to the Gunsmith Part 1 quest in Tarkov. With that said, here are all the requirements you will need for an assault rifle:

  • Handguard Zenit B-11
  • 60 Durability
  • Over 58 Ergonomics
  • Recoil less than 550
  • 100 or more
  • Magazine for 60 rounds
  • Weighs 3.5 kg or less
  • 6 or less cells

To summarize, the Gunsmith Part 2 quest in Escape from Tarkov will require you to:

  1. Find special attachments for AKS-74U
  2. Assemble AKS-74U
  3. Give it to the mechanic

Also, you need to be level 5 to get this quest in the first place. If you want to complete this task from the Mechanic with a breeze, then you will have to know the location of all parts of the AKS-74U.

Below are the attachments you will need to find in the Gunsmith Part 2 quest in Tarkov:

  1. Handguard AKS-74U Zenit B-11
  2. Loading handle AK Zenit RP-1
  3. Vertical handle KAV
  4. Shop AK-74 5.45 × 39 6L31 for 60 rounds

Some parts of the AKS-74U are quite easy to get. The Zenit B-11 Handguard and AK Zenit RP-1 Charging Handle are available from Skier. The third AKS-74U item, the KAV Vertical Grip, is available from Peacekeeper for $32.

Now let’s talk about the last fixture – the 6L31 magazine for 60 rounds. This item is getting harder and harder for players to find in Escape to Tarkov. One way to get this magazine is from the corpses of Raiders and Scavs. However, there is an easy way to do this too.

You can just go to Level 2 Toilet and trade with Prapor for 60 rounds. You will need to trade in four 6L23 30-round magazines, one KEKTAPE tape and a flathead screwdriver to receive a 60-round 6L31 magazine in return.

Now comes the final part – the assembly of the AKS-74U in Gunsmith Part 2. First, you will need to remove the current handguard. However, do not remove the gas tube with it. Once this is done, put on the Zenit B-11 handguard. After adding the new handguard, you will also be able to attach the KAV vertical front grip. Finally, add a 60-round magazine, a Zenith RP-1 loading handle, and a muzzle. Also, don’t forget to fold the pistol, otherwise it won’t meet the requirements of the Gunsmith Part 2 quest.

Then it remains only to hand over the modified AKS-74U to the Mechanic. For all your efforts, he will reward you:

  • +2000 experience
  • Mechanic reputation +0.01
  • 15 000 rubles
  • 15,750 rubles with the Intelligence Center of the 1st level
  • 17,250 rubles with Level 2 Intelligent Center
  • 2× capacitors
  • 2× Bundle of wires
  • 2× Bulb
  • Unlocks the purchase of the AK 100 Series Polymer Handguard from Prapor LL1.

That’s all you need to know about how to complete the Gunsmith Part 2 quest in Escape from Tarkov.
