Facebook Messenger brings multiplayer games to video calls. At launch, only 14 games are available.
Facebook has just announced that it has completed the implementation of multiplayer gaming in its Messenger video calling feature. This feature allows you to connect with your loved ones by crushing them in one of the fourteen titles currently available. This should add a new dimension to your calls!
Facebook Messenger brings multiplayer games to video calls
This video calling gaming feature is available on Messenger on iOS, Android, and the web without the need to install anything. Among the fourteen games available with this first launch are a number of already iconic titles such as Words With Friends or Mini Golf FRVR, as well as more recently released titles such as Card Wars and Exploding Kittens. Each game is thoughtfully designed and designed to be played with at least two players. Meanwhile, the maximum number varies from game to game.
Each one is optimized for the service anyway, with scoreboards and leaderboards, and a user interface that takes advantage of the overall Messenger experience. All you need to do is start a video call on Messenger, press the group mode button, tap the Play icon, and then browse through the library of available games. Menlo Park has been testing games through Messenger for several years, but the feature has never caught on. Who knows, maybe adding multiplayer games will revive the interest.
Only 14 games available at launch
So there are only 14 titles available at launch, which is quite a lot, but Facebook Gaming has said there will be more later this year. With that in mind, the giant is asking interested developers to contact their partnership manager for details on how to add games to the platform. The news comes just months after Meta shut down its dedicated Facebook Gaming app.
