Far Cry 6 just announced a free weekend, coinciding with the new Stranger Things DLC. Players will be able to play Far Cry 6 for free from March 24 to March 27 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC through the Epic Games Store or Ubisoft Store.
Inspired by the popular Netflix series, The Vanishing DLC takes players to the Upside Down where they must try to save Chorizo, one of the most trustworthy and cutest Amigos in the game. This DLC will also be available to new players who tune in to Far Cry 6 during the free weekend.
Unlike any other major DLC crossover, The Vanishing switches pace by adopting stealth-horror-survival gameplay.
Far Cry 6’s latest DLC, Vanishing, is inspired by Stranger Things
“In The Vanishing, players will be taken to a twisted Upside-Down-inspired version of Yara where Dani discovers the Yarans are disappearing and no one is safe, not even Chorizo. Players will be able to explore Stranger Things-inspired locations such as a hidden bunker and an abandoned laboratory. ”
— Description of The Vanishing by Ubisoft.
The mission of the player and Dani is to find the Chorizo in the Upside Down and also find out what happened to the kidnapped Yarans. The Vanishing includes new mysterious characters as well as brand new lore.
This is the latest of Ubisoft’s crossover DLCs for the game, the most recent being Rambo’s crossover mission where Dani has to help superfan Rambo. These DLCs were received quite well, but the 3 villain DLCs received the most praise: Pagan: Control, Vaas: Insanity, and Joseph: Collapse.
These DLCs give players the opportunity to control three iconic villains from the series’ past in an engaging roguelike scenario with mind-blowing, intelligent gameplay. Players with doubts about Far Cry 6 can try the game this free weekend and find out if this entry is worth their time.
