EA usually added games from the FIFA franchise to EA Play shortly before the launch of a new game in the series. FIFA 21 was added to the service around the same time last year, giving the game an extra boost in popularity and players right before the new game’s launch.

This most likely worked well for the publisher as it means the game is available to an even wider audience. This franchise has been a mainstay of the gaming industry for some time now and has reached a rather radical point in its development.

It was recently announced that in the future, after FIFA23, the franchise will no longer use the official “FIFA”trademark as EA and the international football governing body have decided not to renew their licensing agreement. This means that the next game in the series will be the last to be called “EA Sports FIFA”.

From July 2023, the franchise will be known as EA Sports FC, EA has confirmed.
