Fitbit will stop syncing PCs this fall

This fall, Fitbit will stop syncing PC and Mac. With it, the ability to transfer music disappears, and users are left with two compatible services: Deezer and Pandora.

Our electronic devices, whatever they may be, have a rather limited lifespan. This is true for several reasons. Perhaps most obvious is the lifespan of the components themselves, which often show signs of failure after a few years. But our gadgets can become obsolete, or even completely useless if the software part refuses them. This is what will happen, in a sense, with Fitbit devices.

Fitbit will stop syncing PC and Mac this fall

Fitbit has decided to do away with the very interesting PC and Mac sync feature. On a help page spotted by 9to5Google, the company explains that it will remove the ability to sync trackers through the Connect app from October 13, 2022. After this date, the only way to transfer data from your Fitbit device will be through the Fitbit Mobile App.

With it, the possibility of transferring music disappears.

And while the disappearance of this feature shouldn’t affect a huge number of users, it does mean there will be fewer ways to transfer your favorite songs to your device for offline listening.

β€œOn October 13, 2022, we will be removing the ability to transfer playlists to your Fitbit tracker via computer,” the company explains on another help page. “You can continue to play music stored on your watch and transfer music to your watch through the Deezer and Pandora apps.”

leaving users with two compatible services: Deezer and Pandora

In other words, if you’re using a Fitbit tracker or watch to listen to music, you’ll have to settle for one of the two supported services, Deeze and Pandora, which aren’t the most popular at the moment. Since the Pixel Watch offers deeper integration with Fitbit, there shouldn’t be any issues with future Fitbit wearables, but it’s something to consider if playing music from the device is important to you.
