Funko starts playing with former Traveller’s Tales developers

Funko will enter the video game market. Together with 10:10 Games, the company is preparing a platformer.

The worlds of video games and pop culture are closely connected. While it is very common to see a successful video game license being forced into the pop culture marketplace with many derivative products, the reverse is less common. Very well known in the industry is Funko, which has made a name for itself with its numerous and equally varied figurines. And today the giant has decided to get into video games.

Funko enters the video game market

So, Funko is getting ready to enter brand new territory. The company decided to develop video games with the help of developer 10:10 Games. The studio is led by John Burton, founder of Traveller’s Tales and TT Games. “By partnering with 10:10 Games and bringing in the best creators in the industry, we will have the talent to create games that reflect Funko’s unique look and feel across its many and highly diverse products,”Funko CEO Andrew Perlmutter said in a statement.

The first game from this partnership should be a platform game. This game is expected to arrive on PC and consoles in 2023. Funko explains that the as-yet-untitled game will feature “significant integration with third-party studios,”which isn’t surprising given Funko’s catalog of figurines is so plentiful. many figurines of successful licenses and that John Burton has extensive experience with several Lego games. It also appears that Funko is preparing a “T”stamped game for teenagers (ages 13 and up). The first teaser features a pop character named Funko, but that’s about all we have today to get to the bottom of it.
