The Galaxy Fold 4 retails for $1,499.99, discounted to $420.

If you want a taste of the foldable future, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 is available on Amazon for one of the lowest prices we’ve seen. Oddly enough, you can get both the 256GB version for $1799.99 and the 512GB model for $1919.99 for $1499.99. That works out to $300 off the base model and $420 off the 512GB version, which is obviously what you want.

The Galaxy Fold 4 is Samsung’s flagship mobile device, released just two months ago (is it selling well?). The Fold 4 folds into a smartphone-style device with a front-facing 6.2″120Hz 2316×904 external OLED display, and folds out into a large tablet with a 7.6″2176× OLED display 1812, 120 Hz. Inside, flagship-class equipment: Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of internal memory and a 4400 mAh battery with 25 W charging. The device is somehow waterproof, and inside it has an interesting under-screen camera.

The phone comes with Android 12L which has some nice additions for tablet devices like the Fold 4. The biggest addition is the taskbar at the bottom which makes it easy to switch between apps. Samsung has the longest update plan in the Android business; you get four years of major OS updates and an additional year of security updates, although don’t be surprised if they arrive slowly.

It’s hard to recommend foldable devices with great enthusiasm because you’ll still regularly find reports of screens breaking instantly for no reason. Users have reported that Samsung may or may not cover broken screens under warranty as it is very easy to dismiss a claim citing “abuse”. Samsung charges $500 for a screen replacement if it voids the warranty. If you pay for Samsung Care+ Extended Warranty($3 per month for the mandatory 36 months, or $108), you can get a screen replacement for a $29 deductible. Buying a Fold still feels like a gamble, but the discount will at least cover many of those extra costs.
