DALL-E artificial intelligence image generator is available for applications

OpenAI offers a public API for its DALL-E image generator. Expect to find it everywhere.

Soon, you will no longer need to visit a specific website to use DALL-E 2. Indeed, OpenAI has just released a beta version of a platform that allows applications and other products to use an AI-assisted image generator. This includes natural language descriptions that make DALL-E great, as well as moderation to filter out hateful, violent, and extreme content in general.

Many customers are already using this technology. The new Microsoft Designer app uses DALL-E to create social media content, documents, and other invitations. The AI Image Tool is also coming to Bing and Edge to help you create images when you can’t find what you need. Cala, on the other hand, is a “fashion and lifestyle operating system”that uses this tool to generate new designs. Mixtiles can use the system to create unique murals.

OpenAI is using this launch to offer users more control. They now have full ownership of the images they create, not just usage rights. The company is now more inclined to do so as the tool reduces the risk of exceeding the terms of use. Everything you create can now be stored in public or private collections. For example, if you create space-themed images, you no longer have to look through the entire gallery to find them.

The SDK and these extended rights will not solve the problem of borrowing or stealing content created by its artificial intelligence. It might even cause more trouble as DALL-E will be used on more platforms. While companies like Shutterstock are working with OpenAI to sell AI-generated images, others outright ban the technology for fear of copyright issues. It may be a long time before application developers can use technologies like DALL-E without ethical or legal concerns.
