Deep Dive into WWE 2K22 Gameplay Reveals Visual Overhaul, Gameplay Overhaul and More

WWE 2K22 is scheduled to release on March 11, 2022, and finally, the developers have released a brand new detailed gameplay description called “Ringside Report #1”. This suggests that there may be many more deep gameplay dives planned ahead of the March 2022 launch.

During the deep dive, the developers showcased the wide range of new elements present in WWE 2K22 compared to previous titles. One of the first things that impresses the game is the visual overhaul from the previous game, which is the result of improved lighting and animation.

The developers explained that lighting was a major focus during development and is one of the key factors in making WWE 2K22 character models look photorealistic and impressive.

Among everything else that is new, one of the most important changes made from previous games in the series is the new control scheme. Where previously players held down the Attack button to perform a Heavy Hit, players will now be able to use two different buttons to perform a Light Hit and a Heavy Hit.

This, along with a dedicated “Grab”button (with which players can transition to Irish whips and other moves), will allow players to create all sorts of combinations. Basically, by combining light, heavy strikes with grappling, players have a lot more freedom of choice when it comes to attacking.

WWE 2K22 has all sorts of new controls and changes to the base mechanics, including a slight variation on how to break out of the pins. It will be interesting to see how players react to these new changes and whether they find them better than previous games or not.

Many changes have been made to the animation, with individual bits flowing smoothly into each other without much interruption.

As for the variety of game modes, Visual Concepts has revealed that fan-favorite game modes such as GM mode will return in WWE 2K22. In addition to that, there will also be a much more specific career mode, as well as an all-encompassing showcase featuring Rey Mysterio.
