As the release date of God of War Ragnarok approaches, players are wondering about the Might of the God of Thunder. But unlike the compassionate and empathetic portrayal of the MCU, Thor is a brutal ace with an endless bloodlust. While some fans criticize him for being fat, he is much closer to his Scandinavian counterpart. But how strong is Thor in God of War Ragnarok? Check out our guide to find out.
How strong is Thor in God of War Ragnarok
As you progress through God of War (2018), various characters mention Thor several times. For Mimir, he is a Sweaty chump, a Fat Dobber, or a Thunderous Lummox. But he also calls him the Greatest Bastard Butcher in the Nine Worlds. He is mentioned throughout the game as a monster that kills every giant he encounters. Despite his hatred of giants, Thor is the son of Odin and the giantess Fiorgin. Speaking of his iconic Mjolnir, it was forged by Odin the dwarf brothers Sindri and Brok.
In addition, several instances depict his brutal strength. According to Mimir, the smartest person in GOW, Thor also fought the World Serpent. During this battle, he hit the World Serpent so hard that he was thrown back in time before his birth. Kratos thought it was crazy. I don’t think it’s because of time travel that he called it insane. This is because Thor hit him so hard that Yggdrasil shattered. It is a design that transcends time and space. At the same time, he is considered the worst of the aces. He is known for his ruthless violent temper throughout the nine realms.
Kratos v/s Thor
Now that means Thor could be the strongest ace of all in God of War Ragnarok. But, conversely, his recklessness could lead to his downfall against Kratos. Speaking of another incident narrated by Mimir revolving around Hrungnir. When Odin met him, he was surprised by him and invited him to Asgard. As soon as he got drunk on honey, Odin incited him to all kinds of boasting and antics for entertaining his court.
While the entire court was surprised, Thor was not. He gives him one look and hits him over the head with Mjolnir. Mimir reveals that to this day Thor has pieces of Hrungnir embedded in his skull. And he was so struck by the stones that he could not see how the body of Hrungnir collapsed right on top of him. As a result, the whole court began to laugh. After drinking the mead, Thor immediately passed out, and no one was strong enough to choose Hrungnir. As a result, Thor’s sons, Modi and Magni, had to take their father’s body.
In another case, it is said that his hammer Mjolnir was stolen by the giant Thirm. Even though he was asleep, this represents his recklessness. Returning to our main theme, Thor can also be compared to the younger Kratos. Although he is extremely arrogant, he will go to any lengths to be respected and build up his reputation.
However, the God of Thunder has a soft spot for his family. When Magni died, Thor got angry at Modi and blamed him for his death. He is extremely devoted to Odin and was close to Baldr struggling with his devoid of pleasures. But in the end, Kratos kills Modi and Baldur. To add, Atreus kills Modi, and as Kratos states, “Killing God has consequences.”As a result of these actions, Thor is sure to get his revenge on the father-son duo.
