All locations of light and heavy runic attacks in God of War Ragnarok
Unlike God of War (2018), there are two types of runic attacks in GoW Ragnarok. These are light and heavy rune attacks that can be used on Kratos’ various weapons. You can get these runic attacks from red chests or legendary chests found in the Nine Realms. You can also get them as loot dropped from various boss enemies. In addition, you can also purchase them from various shops and workshops. But still, finding them can save a lot of your Hacksilver.
We have divided this guide into two main criteria and they are as follows:
- Places of attack with light runes
- Heavy runic attacks

So let’s start with Light Runes attack locations in GoW Ragnarok.
All attack locations with light runes
As mentioned earlier, you can use these runic attacks on all of Kratos’ weapons. This includes the Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos, and Draupnir’s Spear.
For Leviathan Ax
- Hel’s Touch: You can find this runic attack in a legendary chest in the Burrow area in Alfheim.
- Njord’s Storm: Found in a legendary chest in Svartalfheim at Altjof’s Drilling Rig.
- Edge of Skadi: Found in a legendary chest found in the Alfheim-Strond region.
- Bite of Winter: Get this runic attack as loot from defeating the Huntress during the Survival of Fimbulwinter story quest.
- Wrath of the Frost Ancient: Found in a legendary chest in Vanaheim in the Southern Savage Region.
Blade Chaos
- Cyclone of Chaos: You can find this Runic Attack in a Legendary Chest in the Raider Stronghold area of Midgard.
- Flames of Anguish: You can get this Light Runic attack by defeating the Dreki boss during the Quest of Tyr story quest in God of War Ragnarok.
- Hades’ Vengeance: This runic attack is located in the Temple of Light in Alfheim.
- Helios Flash: You can find this runic attack in the abandoned village area in Vanaheim.
- Fury Rage: Found in the Vanir Shrine in Vanaheim in a legendary chest.
Spear of Draupnir
- Whispers of the World: This runic attack is found in the jungle region of Vanaheim in a legendary chest.
- Huldra’s Charge: Dropped as a reward for defeating the Savage Ogre as you progress through the Blacksmith’s Destiny story quest.
- Mountain Splitter: You can get this runic attack from completing the Spirit of Rebellion Favor quest.
- Throw a Thousand Warriors: Found in a legendary chest in Helheim during the Reunion story quest. Since this is the point of no return, you won’t be able to return to Helheim after completing the quest. But you can buy it at the blacksmith shop for 2500 Hacksilver.

Leviathan Ax
- Breath of Tamura: Found by the Raven Tree in Niflheim in a legendary chest.
- Ivaldi’s Anvil: This Runic Heavy Attack is found in a legendary chest in the Abandoned Outpost area of Midgard.
- Mist of Fimbulwinter: Found in the Myrkr Tunnels in Svartalfheim in a legendary chest.
- Leviathan’s Roar: This rune attack is found in Frey’s Camp in Vanaheim in a legendary chest.
- Mists of Helheim: Found in the Cliffside Ruins area of Niflheim in a legendary chest.
Blades of Chaos
- Atlas Eruption: This runic attack is found in the forge in Svartalfheim in a legendary chest.
- Meteor Strike: Found in a legendary chest in the Raven Tree in Niflheim.
- Nemean Crush: Found in Burrows in Alfheim in a legendary chest.
- Tartarus Rage: You can find this runic attack in a legendary chest in the raider’s hideout in Midgard.
- Train the Beast: You can find this runic attack in a legendary chest during the Reunion story quest in Helheim. But since you can’t return to Helheim, be sure to collect it. If you missed this runic attack, you can buy it from the blacksmith shop for 5000 Hacksilver.
Spear of Draupnir
- Honor of the Fallen: You can find this runic attack in the Plains in Vanaheim.
- Finger of Destruction: This heavy runic attack is located at the Raven Tree in Niflheim.
- Storm of Windsvalr: You can get this runic attack from defeating the Flame Wraith boss during the Summon story quest.
- Artillery of the Ancients: You can get this runic attack as a reward from defeating Drekin’s Dual Boss in GoW Ragnarok. You will encounter this boss during the Creatures of Prophecy main quest.
