God of War: Sony will prepare a film adaptation of the series together with Amazon

The Amazon Prime Video streaming platform may host the God of War television series from PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures Television.

The Expanse creators and executive producers Mark Fergus and Hawke Ostby, and Wheel of Time executive producer and showrunner Rafe Judkins are reportedly involved in adapting God of War for the TV series. Still in its infancy, the Amazon Studios/Sony Pictures Television/PlayStation Productions collaboration is set to release over the next few years on Amazon Prime Video.

Amazon and Sony are very active in the market for video game adaptations. On the one hand, we find Killer Films’ Fallout with Walton Goggins, Mass Effect with potentially Henry Cavill, several confirmed or unannounced projects with dj2 Entertainment (Life is Strange, It Takes Two, Disco Elysium, Ruiner, Little Nightmare, Spleeping Dogs, Echo), and on the other hand, we have The Last of Us via HBO and Twisted Metal via Peacock.

From Greek Mythology to Norse Mythology with God of War

At the center of Santa Monica Studio’s God of War saga is Kratos, an ancient Spartan warrior who desperately seeks revenge on Ares, the Greek god of war, after killing his loved ones under the deity’s influence. Later considered a ruthless god of war, he is constantly looking for a chance to change his fate. His arrival in the northern wilderness will allow him a second chance to father his son Atreus and teach him not to make the same mistakes he did.
