The messaging giant WhatsApp will allow users to preview voice messages before sending them. The company said it is adding a new preview feature to the platform that will improve the security of WhatsApp voice messages. The new feature is part of many feature additions that WhatsApp has been making recently, including the addition of the rupiah symbol to the UPI payment platform using the Whatsapp payments platform. This feature began rolling out to users this week and should be available to everyone soon.
How to Preview WhatsApp Voice Messages Before Sending Them
The voice message preview will work in both group chats and individual text messages on WhatsApp. Here’s how to use them.
- Open a chat window
- Look for the microphone button next to the text box where you’re typing a chat.
- Usually, you press and hold the microphone button to record a chat. To view them, you need to press and hold the button and then drag it up.
- This locks the application in record mode and you can record the desired message. Unlike regular voice messages, WhatsApp won’t send a message after you’ve finished. Instead, a play button will be displayed, allowing you to hear your own message before sending it.
- It also shows a small trash can icon at the bottom left of the screen for deleting and overwriting a message.
The voice message preview option is currently available on both Android and iOS platforms, but cannot currently be used on the WhatsApp desktop app. However, users can still record regular voice messages on the desktop app, and it’s possible that WhatsApp will add this feature to its Windows and Mac apps soon enough.
The voice message option was launched a day before the annual Meta (formerly Facebook) Fuel for India 2021 event. WhatsApp also announced a new pilot program at the event to introduce rural WhatsApp users to the company’s payment platform. The company said the program, called Digital Payments Mahotsav, is part of its plans to bring 500 million rural people into the digital payments ecosystem.
