Blockchain Game Partners is building a blockchain based Play to Earn system called Gala and one of the first games is called Townstar. Townstar has been compared to the blockchain version of Farmville, and Sandbox Games is taking care of the development of the game.
Gala is a platform created by Eric Schiermeyer. He is also one of the co-founders of the gaming company Zynga. Similar to blockchain platforms such as Ethereum and Enjin, Gala allows players to fully own in-game assets. Schirmeier has been working on Gala for 18 months now.
Blockchain Game and Sandbox Games partners want to build a great game first. They want to create a mainstream game where “the game comes first and the blockchain is far behind.” Townstar is one such game, although there are four more titles in development.
What is Town Star?
Town Star is a competitive farming game created by one of the co-founders of Zynga, the company behind Farmville. The game is based on the Gala network, which uses the Ethereum blockchain. Players must grow crops, gather resources, and craft materials to build even more buildings. So a small farm can turn into a bustling city. Anyone can play Town Star in their browser on the Gala Games website.
What’s interesting about Town Star is that the game is very competitive. Each round usually lasts a week, which means that players have a week to optimize their farm and earn as many points as possible. Only the best players are awarded. These rewards are usually GALA tokens, although there are other prizes. These GALA tokens have real value and can be used to buy NFTs. NFT buildings can help players store more resources or improve production flow.
It’s fair to compare a farm building game to Farmville. Especially when you consider that the people behind Townstar were also part of Farmville’s big success ten years ago.
For example, in Townstar on the Gala blockchain, players must grow crops, harvest them, and then create products. Players can sell them one by one for a profit, which they can then invest in a better farm. Over time, this farm could become a small town. The game also features weekly leaderboards, an open marketplace, rare non-replaceable tokens, and an evolving hero.
Completing daily tasks is required to unlock Daily TownCoin rewards, always acting as a custodian of your winnings. If you don’t play the game, you won’t get those nice rewards.
