GSC Game World suspends development of STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl

Due to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the development of STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl has been suspended by the GSC Game World studio.

Like many studios based in the cradle of East Slavic civilization, GSC Game World was affected by Russia’s horrific military invasion of Ukraine: “Last week we were editing video in our motion capture studio. We wanted to show how cinematography was created in our production. We took the time to watch some videos, write scripts, and talk to the actors. Last week was a long time ago… On February 24, Russia declared war on Ukraine and sent rockets, tanks and soldiers to our Motherland. Our country is forced to fight for existence again. It seems to be the price of freedom. ”

Expected December 2nd on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC, STALKER 2 is unfortunately not ready to wrap up on time: “This video is our response to your concerns about our experience in the current context. Now we are committed to helping our employees and their families survive. The development of our production is suspended. But we will definitely continue. After the victory. Glory to Ukraine. ”

What is the future of STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl?

Although the diplomatic and military conflict between Russia and Ukraine is not new, it took an unexpected turn at the end of February… The start of a new cold war is not far off, as everyone in the world hopes that peace will return after real discussions.. In the current conditions, GSC Game World and its the team can no longer work on STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl to the point where development may not resume for several months. The release of Survival-horror FPS is already doomed to 2022 and maybe even 2023. Cancellation is not out of the question as developers may not regain motivation for a long time.
