HabitLoop, Marathon, Avra Core, and other apps to check out this weekend

Happy New Years! We’re kicking off 2024 the right way with a new episode of our Apps of the Week roundup. This week we have some great selections for you, including a cool-looking habit tracker, a social platform for TV lovers, and a self affirmation app. And as always, we’ve picked a fun new game for you to check out.

HabitLoop: Routine planner

It’s the beginning of another year and you know that means we had to mention some self-improvement apps. For our New Year’s resolutions, we’re pledging to improve our fitness, read more books, and to not be too hard on ourselves when we don’t do either of the first two things. Anyway, HabitLoop is here to help you build a daily routine, which may lead to a better you in 2024. It has interactive widgets, timely reminders, and streak tracking, and if you ever find yourself needing motivation, it also offers daily inspirational quotes. If we’re being honest, there are already hundreds of apps like this out there, but I got suckered in by the beautiful color LED-like graphs. I mean, tell me they don’t look at least a little cool.

Marathon: Watch & Discuss

TV is better with friends, I always say, and the team behind this next app seems to agree. Marathon is a social platform that connects you with a community of TV lovers around the globe. You use it to log what you’re watching, join community discussions, and explore trending shows. It’s essentially your new destination for all things television, and features include a customizable profile, the ability to follow other users with similar tastes, customizable lists to organize your favorite episodes, alerts for new episodes, and much more. Use it for shows like The Walking Dead, or hey even Talking Dead, meaning you would be talking with others about Talking Dead, which talks about the Walking Dead. Ok, I think we’re good here.

Avra Core

Avra Core. That sounds like a giant bio-chemical corporation in a Marvel movie where the main villain is the CEO. “Here at Avra Core, we believe all humans should be able to reach their maximum potential.” Did you read that in a female robot voice? No? Ok, moving on! Avra Core is a simple affirmation app that wants to be your personal companion in the journey of self-improvement. It can guide you to form better habits and embrace a more positive mindset. Use it to browse a vast catalogue of affirmations that can help inspire and motivate you, or create your own custom affirmations, delivered to you whenever you like 24/7. I don’t really know if this affirmation stuff works, but hey, saying “I’m going to have an awesome day today” can’t hurt anything, right?
