Halo Infinite may be getting a new Battle Royale mode codenamed “Tatanka”

Halo Infinite’s multiplayer didn’t get off to a great start, but over time, 343 Industries says the game will include more of the features and game modes that fans have come to love. According to new leaks, these new game modes may include the introduction of a new battle royale mode that is supposedly in development.

Leaks suggest that 343 is currently working on a battle royale mode for the Halo Infinite multiplayer game, codenamed “Tatanka”. The title is likely a reference to Chris Chavis, a former WWE wrestler who wrestled under the ring name “Tatanka”and was best known for his victory in a 40-man battle royal match.

While it’s not definitive at first glance, the leaks seem to be quite extensive as they include screenshots of settings, match types, and more.

Halo Infinite multiplayer may soon get a new battle royale mode

Halo Infinite’s multiplayer started off slowly, but the response was generally positive, as the game’s core mechanics are still fairly solid. The most common complaints range from the game’s lack of a fair variety of game modes, to the lack of key features that are expected from modern AAA multiplayer games.

The battle royale game mode may not be the answer to all these problems, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction. 343 has the ability to significantly change the formula to provide a battle royale experience unique to the Halo brand.

Games like Escape from Tarkov have shown the huge, limitless potential of the battle royale genre and that studios don’t have to paint their battle royale offerings. While it has yet to be confirmed by either the studio or Xbox, Halo Infinite’s new multiplayer battle royale mode is something to look out for.
