Heroes of the Storm: Blizzard will no longer offer new content

There will be no more new content in Heroes of the Storm. That’s what Blizzard decided.

Blizzard has decided to stop developing its Heroes of the Storm game. In a brief post on its recently published blog, the studio explains that it intends to support its MOBA “in a similar way”for games like Starcraft II. Blizzard now explains that fans can expect the company to continue to release patches to fix bugs and make various balance changes “as needed”. That being said, the studio has “no plans”to add any new content to the game store while it remains open.

Heroes of the Storm will no longer have new content

“We want to say thank you to our Heroes community,” Blizzard wrote, noting that in the next patch it will give players a gift. “You continue to be one of our most passionate communities, we are grateful for your continued dedication and support, and as always, we look forward to seeing you at the Nexus.”

That’s what Blizzard decided

This announcement formalizes the small death of MOBAs in the Blizzard universe. In 2018, former studio president J. Allen Brack said that the studio had made the “difficult”decision to move some of the staff working on Heroes of the Storm to other projects. Since then, the frequency of new content releases has dropped noticeably. The last hero to appear in the game was in 2020. And Blizzard’s sudden decision to end support for Heroes of the Storme in the esports scene has also left a rather sour taste for many professional players.

The page is turning again for Blizzard. I hope the studio will not regret this decision.
