The DualSense controller lets you experience the magical world of Hogwarts Legacy on PS5.
Chandler Wood, Communications Manager at Avalanche Software, explains how the developers used the DualSense functionality for the PS5 version of Hogwarts Legacy: “There are a lot of spells at your disposal, and adaptive triggers provide more flexibility in combat. As soon as you cast a spell, you will feel the full power of your magic, whether it be a basic spell or a particularly powerful spell.
Various spells will give you a unique experience thanks to haptic feedback, which is a direct connection between the DualSense controller and your wand. These effects will only affect the right side of the controller. In this way, DualSense will become a real extension of your wand in the game. When you parry a Protego spell, you will feel the crackle of magic absorbed by the shield spell. However, adaptive triggers and haptic feedback are not limited to spells and wand use. The DualSense controller lets you take full advantage of many events around the world, whether it’s grinding ingredients with a pestle in potions class, listening to the cry of young mandrakes, or soaring through the sky on a broom or hippogriff.”

Interactive Entertainment is committed to making Hogwarts Legacy the best Harry Potter-licensed video game ever: “We’ve also taken advantage of the DualSense controller’s LED lighting. to offer you customization options. When the DualSense controller is not illuminated by the colors of cast or erased spells, it maintains the colors of your Hogwarts house: blue and bronze for Ravenclaw, scarlet and gold for Gryffindor, green and silver for Slytherin, yellow and black for Hufflepuff.
Visually, we’ve come a long way since our dear Hagrid arrived on PS1. Hogwarts Legacy on PS5 lets you experience Hogwarts and its surroundings in 4K resolution. You can also choose between Fidelity and Performance graphics modes. This choice will allow you to customize your experience, whether you want to prioritize frame rate or visual fidelity. The PS5’s Tempest 3D sound technology will make you feel like you’re in the heart of a magical world. With the crackle of flames as you cast Incendio, the bubbling of potions in cauldrons, and the unique soundscapes of the various environments, you’ll really feel like you’re there.
And if you’re playing without a headset, you’ll love the extra immersive sounds through the DualSense controller’s speaker. In particular, you will hear the beating of the hippogriff’s wings or the various effects of spells that you will cast. What’s more, thanks to the solid state drive of the PlayStation 5 console, loading times will be fast no matter how you choose to move: on a broomstick or through a network of chimneys. The game will also be compatible with the activity cards and in-game help features of the PS5 console.
