The enchanted train to the universe has arrived! The global release of Honkai Star Rail has taken place, and just like Hoyoverse’s last game, Genshin Impact, the game is a gigantic beast in terms of storage capacity, thus we are here to provide the information you need to know.
Storage capacity of Honkai Star Rail on all platforms
Honkai Star Rail features a relatively hefty initial download only to offer you a glimpse of the game, similar to other sizable mobile games with vast universes.
Honkai Star Rail’s prologue can be completed without needing to download any further files, but if you wish to continue playing, you will eventually need to download the entire resource pack, which is a hefty download.
For your reference, the sizes are approximations. Users using metered connections should be aware of the download sizes.
- iOS & Android: 3.28 GB initial download, followed by a 9.25 GB resource pack download.
- PC Standalone/Epic Games Store: Initial download size of 245.71 MB; total resource pack download size of about 13.5 GB.

Luckily, Honkai Star Rail’s final size is much smaller than Genshin Impact’s enormous 23.9 GB this time around, ranging from 9 to 13 GB depending on your platform. Whilst we are confident that Honkai Star Rail will get bigger with subsequent updates, only time will tell how huge this train to the stars will eventually become.
