How to back up files for Age of Wonders 4

You can create and reign over a realm that you create in AoW4. Yet as entertaining as it is, it can quickly turn into a disaster if your game saves become corrupt and you lose all of your progress. Yet that can be easily avoided in Age of Wonders 4 if you know where your save files are located. So, this is where it is and how to back them up and restore them.

You can find the game’s save files in the following places on your PC depending on whether you purchased it via Steam or Epic Games:

  • Steam
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\YourUserIdNumber\1669000\remote\save
    • This should be the general path for most users, but if you have a custom installation then this location changes. In case you do have a custom location then this is the location where you can find your folder: \YourSteamGamesInstallationLocation\userdata\YourUserIdNumber\1669000\remote\save
  • Epic Games
    • There are 4 possible paths where you can find your Save files for this game for Epic Games
      • C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\AgeofWonders4\Saved\SaveGames\
      • C:\Users\username\Saved Games\
      • C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games
      • C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\AgeofWonders4\Saved\

Game Saves for AoW4 Can Be Backed Up

To restore AoW4 later, you simply need to copy the save folder and put it somewhere else.

  1. Activate File Explorer. You may rapidly search for it by pressing the Windows Key.
  2. Navigate to the location listed above, either Steam or Epic Games, depending on where you purchased the game.
  3. duplicate the save folder.
  4. Create a new folder in a different directory now, and then paste the save folder inside of it. This will backup every save file you have.

Consider periodically backing up your files following gaming sessions. If your game files become corrupt, particularly after some upgrades, this will allow you to save your progress.
