Jedi Survivor Fighting Fundamentals: Explained Parrying, Deflecting, and Countering
Consider this game to be similar to a Souls-style game. Being hit by an attack can be extremely painful, but if you’re prepared, you can safely reduce or avoid harm. After all, you are playing as a Jedi.
The dodge and block buttons are used in the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor parry and deflect systems. If you timing it right, evading an attack fully can let down an adversary’s defenses.
While blocking helps you take less damage when you are struck. When enemies fire at you, it also happens automatically, though some bullets will still hit you. A swift kill will result if you block just as a Stormtrooper or Droid fires at you because the missile will be immediately reflected back at them.
Additionally, if you block just before an enemy is about to hit you in melee, you’ll parry perfectly and create a cool glow effect. In turn, this temporarily knocks your opponent unconscious so you can land a few more blows.
It could also reduce their guard meter. When completely drained, you can continue to strike. A red icon will eventually appear if an opponent’s Health is low enough. Any normal attack will result in your character initiating a counter or kill move, usually amputation of your opponent’s limbs or a brutal Lightsaber slash.
Last but not least, keep in mind that your character also has a block/guard meter that is based on the Lightsaber Stance you select. You’ll also suffer if that is drained, so be wary of difficult situations.
