Huawei introduces Watch Buds, a smartwatch with under-screen wireless headphones.
As practical as wireless headphones are, more often than not, you’ll need to carry a small box with you to store and recharge them. Wouldn’t it be better to do without it? Huawei is sure of it. According to The Register, the Chinese brand has hinted at the Watch Buds smartwatch, complete with wireless headphones that are stored and charged right under the screen.
Huawei introduces Watch Buds
Official details about these Huawei Watch Buds will have to wait as the company postponed its planned consumer products launch event until yesterday, but we already have some clues as to how this strange design will work.
Huawei Central was able to get photos showing that these earphones are attached under the screen and remain in place, being very discreet when the watch is closed. The design is similar to that offered by the GT watch, with a steel case and a leather strap. The watch will run its own operating system Huawei HarmonyOS. And if there are no technical specifications yet, it will not be surprising to find out about the presence of a large battery, since it should power the watch and headphones.

However, a how-to video from QSQTechnology suggests that these headphones are attached to the watch with magnets. The very design of the latter is unremarkable, it is even difficult to say whether the headphones are comfortable once in the ear. Therefore, it is primarily a matter of practicality than anything else.
In any case, no one knows when Huawei will officially issue these Watch Buds and whether it will. It’s also hard to say in which countries it will be available, as Huawei is persona non grata in many markets. Either way, it’s no surprise that this design can be liked. Then you could listen to music in peace with nothing but your watch, and you wouldn’t have to worry about the charging case being out of place.
