George Martin has announced the end of filming for the House of the Dragon prequel.
American writer George R. R. Martin praises the excellence of the writers, directors and actors of the Game of Thrones spin-off series House of the Dragon: “Of the ten episodes that have been released, I have seen snippets of some of them, and I love them. Clearly, the HBO teams still have work to do. The special effects, the coloring, the music, in short, all the post-production… But the script, the direction, the casting, everything is great. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. When can we see it, you ask me? When will the dragons dance? I wish I could tell you… There are still things to do and the coronavirus is making it difficult to plan. Spring release is unlikely. This summer? It would be possible. This autumn? Who knows? We will keep you updated…”
Dragon House was co-created by George Martin and Ryan Kondal. The script for the pilot, which was commissioned for the series, was written by Ryan Kondal. He is co-directing the series with GoT veteran Miguel Sapochnik, who will direct the pilot and additional episodes. Martin, Kondal and Sapochnik serve as executive producers along with Sara Lee Hess, Vince Gerardis and Ron Schmidt. Greg Yaitanes is co-executive producer. Yaitanes, Claire Kilner and Geeta V. Patel complete the directing team.
Home of the Dragon, returning soon to the George R.R. Martin universe
The House of the Dragon prequel, based on the novel Fire and Blood, takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen. The five main characters of the series are King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine), Alycent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) and Lord Corlys Velarion (Steve Toussaint), known as the Sea Serpent, which becomes the hand of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen during the Dance of the Dragons.
