Hackers who use the Instagram app to share media with others can take advantage of a recently released free jailbreak tweak called IGTidyMediaSend from iOS developer CydiaGeek.
IGTidyMediaSend prevents media from being accidentally uploaded to your Instagram account by providing a two-step barrier that forces you to confirm that you’re sure you want to upload the selected media.
According to the developer, the tooltip even includes a hint of haptic feedback when you confirm a download – a nice touch.
Without the two-step barrier provided by IGTidyMediaSend, it’s easy to randomly select an image or video in your photo library and upload it to Instagram along with other photos and videos. After installing the tweak, your brain will have a second chance to check and make sure everything is kosher before you embarrass yourself.
Without any configuration, IGTidyMediaSend is simple and works exactly as advertised via the BigBoss repository. The developer says the tweak will work on jailbroken devices running iOS 12 or later and that it supports the latest version of the Instagram app, which is version 260.0 at the time of this writing.
Please note that any future updates to the Instagram app may break the IGTidyMediaSend setting, so you may want to refrain from updating it in the future unless the developer indicates compatibility.
Do you think a confirmation message like the one provided by IGTidyMediaSend will help users prevent accidental uploads to the platform? Let us know in the comments section below.
