Disney plans to develop a television series based on the Indiana Jones universe.
In recent meetings with writers, the Lucasfilm and Disney teams discussed the possibility of creating a television series centered on the famous travel archaeologist, sources said. Plot details are currently unknown as they are still looking for a screenwriter to actually launch the project.

At this time, no one can tell if the Indiana Jones TV series will be a prequel or a spin-off of the film franchise, or even if it will tie into the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones movie, just like Disney tied their programs together. Marvel on Disney+ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Disney not ready to give up Indiana Jones license
The decision to develop an Indiana Jones series came after American actor Harrison Ford announced that he would no longer play the character after the fifth film, due out in 2023. Additionally, sources say Disney is currently exploring a number of options to keep the franchise alive, which could mean the series, new movies, other media, or a combination of all of these.
Indiana Jones is one of the most iconic pop culture characters of all time. To date, Harrison Ford has played him in four popular films, namely Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, The Last Crusade and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. George Lucas and Philip Kaufman created the character, Steven Spielberg directed the first four films in the franchise. The fifth film is directed by James Mangold. Together, the four films have grossed almost $1.3 billion worldwide.
