Instagram will restore the news feed in chronological order. This one should be back early next year.
Currently, the Instagram feed is based on an algorithm in which the elm platform tents rate what they think you want to see with a link to the different posts you interact with more often. This means, for example, that if you like or comment on posts from a certain account more often than others, then there is a high chance that new content from that account will appear at the top of your feed.
Instagram will restore the news feed in chronological order
This was a big change from when the Instagram feed was based on a single and apparently simple timeline, with the most recent posts placed at the front of the queue. For those who deplore those good old days, or who would like to at least be able to switch between these two display modes, know that during a speech before the American Congress, Instagram director Adam Mosseri confirmed that this chronologically ordered news feed will arrive in 2022.
This one should be back early next year
Adam Mosseri says the company has been working on re-integrating this feature into their platform for several months now and their teams are hoping to launch it in the first quarter of next year. A few years ago, Instagram said it wouldn’t be bringing this timeline back in chronological order, but in recent months it looks like the company has changed its mind about it.
As already mentioned, users should never be limited to one choice. They should have always been able to choose what works best for them, but perhaps Instagram was concerned that a chronologically ordered news feed would not be as interesting as a feed calculated by a special algorithm. In other words, users will spend less time on the platform than the business requires. Soon you will have a choice, and that’s good. You can do whatever you want!
