Instagram is testing a novelty for its templates. This feature allows you to use any drum as a template.
Instagram is currently testing a new templates feature for Reels. The latter allows users to copy video formats from other Reels videos, according to Business Insider. Templates have already become an extremely popular feature, as we can see on TikTok, and they are often the basis for viral challenges or trends on the platform.

The Patterns feature on the reels is still in beta and only a select few influencers can take advantage of it. And the Meta confirmed this to TechCrunch. “We’re always working on new ways to make drum making easier. We’re testing the ability to create a video using a template used in another video,”a Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch in an email.
This feature allows you to use any clip as a template.
As influencer Josephine Hill explains in the tweet below, the “Templates”option gives users the ability to select “Use as Template”on any Reel video to replace the video clips with their own. While the current version of reel templates only offers a limited number of predefined options, the new functionality seems to allow any reel to be used as a template.
Instagram has rolled out many features directly inspired by TikTok on reels since the feature launched on the platform in order to retain its Gen Z users and attract new ones. Some of the latest examples include the Remix feature, video collaboration, new music features, and visual responses. Since Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said last year that the platform would double video volume in 2022, it’s safe to say we’ll see more of these in the coming months.
