iOS 16.4.1 Coming Soon to Fix Weather and Wi-Fi Issues
A reliable source says that iOS 16.4.1 will fix issues with the Weather app loading data and forgetting Wi-Fi passwords. They apparently told MacRumors that iOS 16.4.1 would be a temporary update while iOS 16.5 remains in testing.

iOS 16.5 is set to be Apple’s last major update to iOS 16 ahead of the release of iOS 17 this fall. Apple will showcase everything new in iOS 17 and its other software platforms at the upcoming WWDC conference, which will be held June 5-9 online.
What happened to the Apple Weather app?
This morning, many people took to social media to report that the Apple Weather app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac is not loading any data. Instead, it shows blank screens with no weather forecast or other information.
Apple’s system status web page acknowledges unspecified issues with the Weather app that began around 5 AM PT.
The company wrote that the weather service “may be slow or unreliable,”but it’s out of reach for many people. It is not clear what percentage of users may experience this issue. Apple says “some users”are affected.
An earlier status said that only rainfall for the next hour was unavailable for Alaska “due to a data provider failure”, but things quickly escalated from there.
I can confirm intermittent issues with weather data since updating to iOS 16.4, but this is the first time I’m having data not loading.
Whatever the problem, it affected the Weather app on Apple platforms such as iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and macOS. One contributor reported seeing it in the iOS 15.7.4 bug fix update, which only works on older devices.
iOS 16 allows you to create an iPhone lock screen with the current weather forecast, but the Weather widget is also affected by the issue. With iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura, the Weather app first arrived on iPad and Mac.
iOS 16.4 forgot your Wi-Fi passwords?
Another issue is that some people who have updated to iOS 16.4 are having issues with saved Wi-Fi passwords. Online reports claim that iOS 16.4 forgets saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords if you switch or disconnect networks. We haven’t been able to reproduce this issue, but we’re sure it’s real for people who have experienced it.
Maybe it’s just me, but after updating to iOS 16.4, I had to enter all my WiFi passwords again, even though they synced with iCloud. Has anyone else experienced this?
