Will iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max get a new display? Here’s what the new report claims

Apple iPhone 14 leaks are popping up more and more online as the launch schedule gets closer. The company is expected to release four new iPhone models this year that will not include a mini version. Along with the vanilla model, Apple is expected to release the iPhone 14 Max, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max.

The standard iPhone 14 will feature a 6.1-inch OLED display. Reports have claimed that Apple has partnered with China’s BOE to supply OLED panels for the upcoming iPhone. It was reported in May that BOE had redesigned the display circuitry, now Apple is reportedly re-evaluating the display for its upcoming 2022 iPhone models.

The Elec claims that Apple is reviewing BOE display samples after discovering that the supplier secretly changed the width of thin-film transistors on OLED panels for iPhone 13 models. After the fiasco, Apple approved OLED panels again. As for future iPhones, the Cupertino-based tech giant is likely to place a large order.

If BOE receives the green light, it is expected to begin production of the iPhone 14 display between July and August. BOE is expected to produce displays for non-professional models. Samsung and LG are said to be preferred partners for the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.

iPhone 14, 14 Max Specifications

The standard iPhone models will not undergo major changes this year. While the 14 Max is a new addition, the only changes it’s expected to get over the 13 mini are a bigger display and a bigger battery.

Rumor has it that both models will get the same A15 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 13 series. They will also feature a dual camera on the back. At the top there will be a wide cutout for Face ID and other sensors.

Apple will also likely increase RAM to 6GB in all four models this year. The Pro models are rumored to get some major upgrades, including a new punch-hole and tablet-shaped display, a 48-megapixel triple-camera setup, and an A16 Bionic chip.
