The iPhone 14 Pro could have a 48MP sensor, which is a major development for Apple.
Apple iPhones are known for their camera module. And while they’re not necessarily the best on the market, they produce very good quality pictures, and the Cupertino-based company stays at the top year after year, improving their technology and adding some very useful features here and there. That being said, 2022 could be a year of significant change for this iPhone 14 Pro segment.
iPhone 14 Pro may get a 48 MP sensor
If the latest rumors are to be believed, it seems that Apple has decided to make notable improvements in the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. Thus, instead of the 12MP sensor currently built into the iPhone 13, the Apple brand may switch to a 48MP sensor. Reports don’t indicate if this is just the primary sensor or not, but the device could therefore have at least a 48MP sensor.
And this can be very interesting for iPhone users who have to, so to speak, “make do with” a 12-megapixel sensor, when Android smartphone manufacturers have long since switched to 48-megapixel and even more. It should be noted that, as often happens, the number of megapixels is not everything. It’s more of a marketing number, but there’s a perfectly legitimate reason to use a higher megapixel sensor.
Important development for Apple
Having more megapixels allows the camera to capture more detail, detail that would otherwise be lost when photographs are enlarged or printed. Having more megapixels gives users the ability to crop their shots or print them in larger formats without losing too much detail.
The Cupertino-based company has been using a 12-megapixel sensor since the iPhone 6s Plus, although it has made many improvements to other aspects of its camera module over the generations, especially at the software level.
