With five million copies sold worldwide, It Takes Two surpasses A Way Out.
Supported by Electronic Arts since its inception through a label dedicated to indie developers, Hazelight Studios is limited to a collaborative experience. If A Way Out impressed gamers more than the press, despite decent sales that allowed it to be profitable (about four million copies sold), It Takes Two delighted everyone to such an extent that it was voted game of the year at the Game Awards 2021, the latter only recently crossed the five million sales mark, including two million in less than four months.
A feat that explains why dj2 Entertainment wants to bring the license to the big and small screen.”It far exceeds our expectations, ” says Joseph Fares, founder and creative director of Hazelight Studios.
Gaming experience fully collaborative
With the Friend Pass (available for free for people playing in local co-op, but requires a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription to play online), a player can invite another person to play It Takes Two for free. The free trial also allows you to try the first level. After completion, only one of the two people will need to buy the full game to continue the adventure together.
It Takes Two takes players on the craziest journey of their lives with Cody and May, a couple in bad shape. The heroes will have to learn how to work together and overcome their differences in order to get out of the crazy world they are trapped in: “They must work together to save their mate from death. The game hasn’t finished surprising you yet. Between vengeful vacuum cleaners, self-assured voluptuous love gurus, or a smashed-up DJ nightclub, you’ll have to overcome many obstacles and experience surreal moments full of emotion. “
